The YWCA Leadership Corps

The YWCA Leadership Corps (YLC), is a positive youth development after-school program for young women in the ninth grade aimed at enhancing personal development and increased proactive participation in community involvement. By attending a 13 week educational program and participating in community service learning projects young women can become active leaders in their own lives and that of their families, schools and neighborhoods. Those completing the program will gain the “know how” to pursue further educational, leadership (community action/civic responsibility) and employment opportunities. Program participants aim at obtaining a set of practical life skills that will make a difference in their lives, and therefore will aim at achieving a high standard of integrity in decision making and character building.
