Juneteenth Bluesfest

Join us at Lakeview Park in Lorain, Ohio, on Sunday, June 18th, from 2:30 PM to 8:00 PM, for the Juneteenth Bluesfest—a remarkable celebration of music and the significance of Juneteenth. Experience the soulful sounds of talented blues musicians and bands like Da Land Brass Band, Audacity for Sale, and Walter Barnes, as they showcase the power and beauty of the Blues—a genre that has shaped the fabric of American music.

This heartfelt salute to the African-American community and its enduring spirit commemorates the emancipation of slaves in Galveston, Texas. The event, made possible by our generous sponsors, including The YWCA of Elyria & Lorain, Lorain County Metro Parks, M.H.A.R.S. of Lorain County, Community Foundation, Main Street Lorain, and the City of Lorain, is a tribute to the rich history and cultural heritage of Juneteenth.

In addition to the mesmerizing performances, we invite you to join us on June 19th, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Burrell House in Sheffield, OH, for “An Evening with Ifa Bayeza.” This special event features the award-winning playwright and author, who will discuss her latest project, “The Rescue of John Price,” a dramatization of the Oberlin-Wellington Rescue. Reflect on Price’s stay at the Burrell House—an Underground Railroad site—before he made his way to Stop 100 in Lorain and on to Canada.

Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to be part of a historic celebration and embrace the spirit of Juneteenth. Join us at Lakeview Park on June 18th for the Juneteenth Bluesfest and on June 19th for “An Evening with Ifa Bayeza” at the Burrell House.
